The Eno hammock is one of our favorite pieces of gear, we actually leave it up in our yard all the time! Here is what we love about it.
The Eno Hammock is a camping hammock that is not only lightweight but also conveniently portable. It can be packed up into a small ball that’s about the size of a softball, making it really easy to take with you anywhere that you may go.
I personally love that it is so portable and lightweight because I can take it backpacking with me when I go hiking or camping. I can even set it up outside for lounging in while in the comfort of my own yard.
If you’re looking for a tree hammock that is comfortable and high quality, this Eno Hammock is definitely it. While it does have some pros and cons, I think it is one of the best hammocks on the market and well worth the costs.
The Pros of the Eno Hammock
Besides being incredibly lightweight and so easily packable, this hammock is also very comfortable for sleeping in.
Normally, I don’t like to sleep in a hammock overnight. I’m a cold sleeper and the temperatures outside have me feeling uncomfortable staying in a hammock overnight.
That being said, give me a warm sunny day, a cold drink in my hand and this hammock tied in the backyard, and I’m a happy camper! I could nap and rest all day in this tree hammock because it gives enough space to not feel like I’m trapped.
Unlike other hammocks where you feel like you’re in a high-sided bowl and unable to escape, or your shoulders are being brought to your chest as you lay perfectly flat and uncomfortably stiff, this camping hammock gives you so much more room for personal space.
Another Pro About This Tree Hammock
The attachment points on this camping hammock are of high quality. Without taking any extra added precautions to prolong the life of this hammock, it has been holding up great to continued use!
I don’t take my shoes off or anything else that would be seen as a precaution and despite this, the high-quality material used on the attachment points is still not showing any signs of getting worn out or starting to fray! Cheaper made hammocks would never have lasted thing long.
The Negative Things About This Hammock
Unfortunately, nothing is perfect and there are a few negative things about this Eno Hammock. The built-in-sack that comes with this hammock is hard to use. While the hammock can be compressed to fit into this bag, it’s tricky to get it into the sack, and that is a bit of a pain.
The biggest negative thing that I have to say about this Eno Hammock is that it doesn’t come with any straps. For this reason, I highly recommend purchasing a high-quality pair of straps to tie the hammock to trees. Using something simple and cheap like paracord will not end well as they’ll most likely snap and lead to a crash landing.
But there is a solution to this problem, you can buy straps!
I purchased the Eno Hammock Slap Straps and they make all of the difference. I feel that they are really what helps to make the hammock work so well. They’re easy to roll up, making them portable too. The best part is that they are adjustable so that you can easily change the tension and the height of the hammock.
A Professional Tip Worth Reading
When you are out hiking somewhere and you want to hang your hammock, before unpacking everything and going through the hassle of laying it between trees to see what looks like a good fit, do this instead:
Stand in the middle of two trees and with your arms outstretched and hold the trekking poles out. This will help you to tell how far apart the trees should be for you to hang the hammock in. You can save yourself a lot of time and headaches with this tip!
So if you’re looking for the best hammock you can get and one that can last and survive through continued use, I highly recommend this Eno Hammock and the Eno Hammock Slap Straps.
